Most significant events in you life

Attended Phoenix college met and married Don L Peterson, Vietnam veteran and we built a home in Taylor Arizona and had six children. We moved to Davenport Iowa where Don received his Chiropractic degree practicing in Taylor, Arizona.
Don passed away in 1994 and I had just graduated from NAU in May with a BS degree in teaching/K through 12 . What a blessing to have that degree as Don died of a heart attack just before Christmas. He was only 49. I taught sixth grade in Mesa and relocated to Washington state with four daughters and became "Penny and the little women" as our two sons were serving a church mission in Scotland and second son joined the Marines. I taught school in Washington state and met and married John Naegle ( a NWA Pilot for 32 years). We blended our family of eight kids with the two oldest boys gone from home and his daughter on her own. They are all doing well and raising wonderfully special grandchildren scattered all over. We are now retired living the winter months in Sierra Vista Arizona and spending the summers in the Pacific Northwest beautiful Spokane Valley, known as God's country!

School Story

I received my Masters from U of A in 2000 for being the only white haired student walking across the stage at graduation. We have done a lot of traveling, enjoying such places as Amsterdam Holland and Geneva Switzerland and touring Italy including Venice, Florence, Verona, Milano and Pisa.
Favorite trip was to Barcelona Spain. I love Germany and Austria with the sound of music tour. John and I have been to Eastern and Western Caribbean, Hawaii, and several times to Alaska. I flew to Japan for my husband's last flight before retirement. Now we are out to see both the USA and Eastern and Western Canada probably driving because that's what retired pilots do.... putting many miles on our van, as we see grandchildren as often as we can. Life is good...

Words of wisdom

Life is actually great. It's all in the way you look at it. Hope to see many of my classmates and friends from the past at the 50th reunion. Best, Penny

I’d give anything(almost) to be in Washington right now...all my flowers are blooming and it’s so much Cooler than our hundred degrees in Arizona! Also I believe you have less Coronvirus cases than hot ol Arizona. I remember you from Clarendon days...you were quite the athlete! Hope all is well with you and yours. West is Best! Penny (Axson)

I wish I had known Patricia Leonardo! She looks so familiar...like we passed in the halls at West High. She seems like everyone’s friend. She will be missed. My condolences to her family and friends. Thankyou for sharing her story. It makes one want to be better. Best, Penny

I am just now returning from a Broadway marathon wanted to let you know that you were right...”Come From Away “ was by far my favorite! I thought it was probably due to my Canadian roots but at the end of the play the entire audience were on their feet clapping and doing a jig to the fun Newfoundland band. It was awesome ??
Thanks for the thumbs up ?? I was there with four College friends and each chose their own favorite production...so we saw Hamilton, Chicago, Lion King and Frozen...technology was so great! I am in Denver on my way home ?? to Spokane Valley Wa. I’ll return to Arizona October 30 when the weather gets cold. Hope all is well with you and yours...’til the next West High reunion. Best, Penny

Thanks to all who worked on this last mini-reunion to be such a success and appreciation to those that were in attendance...we were few but mighty “great”! Who knew that Ben Schaub was human lol...and Lee Giurlanda, I’m glad we look so good to you. You're a man who sees with his heart! I echo Robert Fortson’s comments that it was the people of West High that made it great! Thanks to our fearless leaders...Carl, don’t be thinking of passing the baton...you’ve got a lifetime calling there. Keep up the good work. It’s appreciated. Maybe you can get Mark to make the job “pay off.” John Lumm started the “true confessions.” Who knew? It was so great seeing (not so clearly without my glasses) and visiting with many classmates. Thank you for condolences expressed in my behalf of my recent loss...I felt the love and sincere concern. Until we meet again and I hope it won’t be too long before the next reunion. Best to all, Penny

Sad news to share. My dear husband, John C. Naegle passed away August 15, 2018 after a courageous fight with bladder cancer. He's buried at the veterans Cemetery in medical Lake Wa. All of our children attended his life celebration on August 22, 2018 except for Patricia who came from the Netherlands three weeks early. It was a beautiful service. He is at peace now and free from pain. I am glad I was able to fulfill his last wish to return to his beloved Northwest where skies are blue and there are trees. It is truly God's country. Thank you all for your care and concern and also the birthday wishes for me yesterday. Hope to see you in the new year. Best, Penny
